James H. Evans is founder and President of BENCHMARK Adventure Ministries, Inc.
This Eagle Scout trained as a senior instructor with the High Road wilderness
program of HoneyRock, the Northwoods Campus of Wheaton College and led 16 wilderness
trips of 16-18 days in length over 10 years.
James is an experienced Bible teacher, backpacker, paddler, climber, college teacher,
leader, marathon runner, wilderness wanderer, mentor and discipler. He has provided
leadership for BENCHMARK since 1993. He enjoys the use of his iMac, backpacking or
paddling under a full moon and getting his 4 children to laugh. This do-It-yourselfer
also likes to do remodeling and home improvement projects.

areas, Jill utilizes her skills well with
BENCHMARK. Jill first attended our
staff training and became an instructor
in January 2002. In the fall of 2004 she began working part-time in the
BENCHMARK office. She has a

degree in Bible & Christian Education from Free Will Baptist Bible College
and works each day teaching Pre-K in a church preschool. She has served for five years as
the director of Tennessee Southern Methodist Youth Camp, is involved in teaching children and youth in her local
church, and participates each week as guitarist and vocalist in her church’s worship team. Her primary responsibilities
for BENCHMARK include design and editorial work. With an eye for detail and a depth of creativity, Jill’s work
can be seen in just about everything BENCHMARK produces.
Other Staff
In 2008, BENCHMARK utilized the skilled services of 15 part-time instructors. Each of these individuals have
participated in an annual staff-training event and been involved with on-going skills and professional development
through their participation as an instructor in BENCHMARK planned events. Event evaluation and staff debriefing
is a valued part of each instructor’s growth and training.

Though BENCHMARK is not currently accepting résumés for full-time staff positions; we are open to those who
might be interested in joining this unique ministry. Intermittent, part-time opportunities to invest in others are available.
